What's Happening?

Stop paying attention to Britney's hair or where Anna Nicole's body will be buried. These 'news' stories are blocking the real news about what's happening in our country and around the world. It's no wonder that a lot of tv shows and movies are dealing blatantly with how our governement uses the media to it's own advantage. That's what is actually happening. The news is a tool used either to scare us or distract us. Dig past the front pages of the newspaper to see what truly going on.

What's Wrong with Politics

Please click the below link and see for yourself what is wrong with politics today.

Moses and God Sure Don't like Prop 42

I still can't believe it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On another note... I picked up FAST FOOD NATION in the bookstore the other day and couldn't put it down, so I bought it. It's really good. Last night I read the section on "Natural" flavors and "Artificial" flavors in processed foods. It freaked me out. So today while Jessica and I were at the big chain supermarket, I started to look at the ingredients on food. About 90% of the stuff I picked up had either Artificial or Natural flavors. Even so called "healthy" food had it. Some even had both! I don't think reading this book will make me veggie or anything, but it has opened my eyes to the junk in processed foods and the unethical business practices of fast food companies.

Harold & Maude

Last night, I watched Hal Ashby's "Harold & Maude" for maybe the sixth time. Jessica fell asleep in the middle of the film. It was her idea to watch the movie. A friend of hers raved about it. Jessica's friend is a teacher at a small private school. She told us that her prinicpal gives out copies of "Harold & Maude" to graduating students with a little note that says, "Be a Maude."

I have always really liked the film. The story is bizare, yet sweet. It's dark and funny. It's got great style and the music is amazing. But while watching it last night, I was truly moved. I guess I don't have time to go into all the things that stuck out of the film for me. I will share with you that we all take life too seriously and at the same time do not take it serious enough. Watching the film last night brewed up in me a rebellion I've never felt. I have been on an anti-government stini lately because i've become tired of the attrocities I am seeing every single day. "Harold & Maude" somehow fueled that fire. It's not a film you would think of as a "protest film," but for me it is. I encourage anyone who reads this and who has not see n this movie, to go rent it, Netflix it, or steal it so you can see it.

I will leave you with a quote from Maude...

"A lot of people enjoy being dead. But they are not dead, really. They're just backing away from life. Reach out. Take a chance. Get hurt even. But play as well as you can. Go team, go! Give me an L. Give me an I. Give me a V. Give me an E. L-I-V-E. LIVE! Otherwise, you got nothing to talk about in the locker room."
